Zane Meyer just put this video up of the Epic comp that went down in Sacramento. Great vibes and some awesome riding combined with zane’s production skills make for a great edit. Its good to see different filmers come together, makes for a more complete coverage of a comp.

I will be sharing all of the photos and videos I took at Interbike on the ZLOG facebook page, as it is easier to share and comment on them while this site is undergoing construction. I took video most of the time but still captured some photos of my favorite things; mostly track bikes, fixed gears, and faces that I enjoy. Be on the lookout for tons of Interbike goodies as the week progresses. I’ve already started posting so go check it!
I will be in Vegas all week at Interbike with the Bike Insiders crew. We will be doing as many interviews as possible and checking out the latest gear on the market. We have an editor on hand who will be putting together videos the same day and uploading them to the Bike Insiders youtube channel for all of you to enjoy. If you see Peter or myself be sure to say hello.
This double feature event is happening the 7th & 8th. Rob K will be hosting the 5th Rebel Without a Cog race, and is introducing an all female single speed event, The Vagina Monocogs, at the same time. To clarify, there will be events on both days (Friday the 7th & Saturday the 8th) for both male and female competitors. Winners will get paid travel to the Westside Invite in Los Angeles. Sounds like a good time for both genders.
Ever since I got a whiff of fixed gear bikes I have been reading zlogblog and today is the proud day where I share my own first post with the world.
Some of you might know me already from various events and of course Cal Anderson.
I’m Nelson for all of you that don’t know, and Zach recently asked me (and two other lazy butts that haven’t done anything about it yet) to help add more content to the site.
I’ll do my best to keep y’all entertained.
For now I have some pictures I took while the crew from cali was in town filming for Can’t Fool the Youth II

Lockedcog dropped this video of the recent Man Up event. That last clip was brutal. Hope your tailbone is still intact Dawson!
Here is just a taste of the madness that went down in Palo Alto/Redwood City yesterday. More videos are sure to surface, but from these clips it looked like a great event.
Our homie Sean of TakeoverLA is throwing his annual L.O.G. race. Be there for the brutality!

Although it is a little short notice, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do a little trick demo and video screening while the Can’t Fool the Youth crew is in town filming. This Tuesday, come see these pro-level riders shred at Beacon Hill Skatepark around 6:00. At 8:00 we will be showing Zane Meyer’s fixed gear freestyle video magazine Can’t Fool the Youth at Hello Bicycle. There will be free ice cream, as well as DVD’s for sale, and a raffle. A portion of the proceeds go towards Steven Jensen’s sister who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Please show up and support!

Some of the Seattle messengers are so excited for the premium rush movie that they are throwing a race to the movie theater. It is another Seattle Naccc fundraiser which is coming up in 2013, so be there and support.
Chicago just hosted the Cycle Messenger World Championships, and our very humble pal Craig took the gold. Congrats!

The Dead Babies are a club of bicycle miscreants who throw a huge party every year which starts off with a downhill race. Below is a video from a couple years ago, which shows just how much crazy shit goes down.

Registration at 5pm.
Race at 7pm.
Seattle has really been ramping up for the 2013 North American Cycle Courier Championships by hosting events and races that will help fund the NACCC. This means there is no shortage of bike happenings in the Emerald City. If you plan on travelling this summer to race, Seattle would be the place to do that since it seems each week offers a new and creative alleycat. Check this one from Mobius.

Neal Poland of Alleycatlife.com showed up for the ZLOGCAT eager to race and also eager to capture the action with his helmet cam. He’s posted the vid up on his site and shared these photos with me. Check it!
The day started off typical of Seattle with gray skies and a 50% chance of rain. It seemed like the rain could start at any moment, but luckily it held out until the race got underway. 16 racers showed up, which was more than I could’ve hoped for considering the looming threat of a rain storm. If rain held anyone back in this city nothing would ever get done. The race took off around 2:15 and shortly after 3:15 the first couple of riders had already finished the 17 mile course. Bryan Clark better known as Tall Bryan was the first to arrive with Christian Coomer a few minutes behind. Justin Phillips and Colin Northcraft showed up in 3rd and 4th. Around 4:00 all the racers had finished and sat relaxed at Piranha Shop gallery space as we prepared for the raffle. We gave prizes away from Leader Bikes, Rudy’s Barbershop, Boombotix, FSA & POW Gloves. Mission Workshop provided the top prize which went to Tall Bryan. Christian took home the Chrome Coveted jersey for coming in first fixed. When the prized had been divvied out, we finished the afternoon with a special pre-screening of Sea Town Fix Up #3, the latest ZLOG video in the saga. Overall, it was a great day with good people, and everyone was adequately intoxicated by 6pm. A huge thanks to Piranha Shop and those who participated, and especially to those who helped out. I hope to throw another race really soon!
Hell Yea! I will be in attendance this year and bringing with me a Chrome Coveted Jersey for the winner.
Check the Facebook event page here.
With the race quickly approaching I thought I would good to give people another reminder to come out to Saturday’s ZLOGCAT alleycat and party. We have a lot of awesome sponsors on board and those who come out and race will not leave empty handed. Each person to register for the race will get a ZLOGCAT tee and they will also be available to purchase at the after party (while supplies last). Once the race finishes up, the party at Piranha Shop will begin, where the prize giveaway and raffle will happen. Take a look below to see what kind of swag we’ve got to give away.
This Mission Workshop Vandal backpack is the top prize and will go to the fastest cat.
Boombotix hooked it up with a pair of their portable BoomBot speakers which can clip onto a belt and blast some serious sound.
Also, Chrome is sending a last minute prize for the winner, the Chrome Coveted jersey. The only way you can obtain a Coveted jersey is to win it.
I hope to see everyone there.
This weekend the Bicycle Film Festival kicks off in NYC before it heads around the world. Be sure not to miss the Seattle bike polo documentary Hit ‘Em in the Mouth.
Bicycle Film Festival launches in New York and then will continue to Helsinki, Moscow, Istanbul, Hong Kong, London,
Buenos Aires, Milano and more than 20 other cities.
The film programming this year is stellar. The shorts programs are hugely popular and are not to be missed.
Feature film highlights include the world premiere of the feature length LINE OF SIGHT (Dir. Benny Zenga) by legendary cycling cinematographer Lucas Brunelle, and SHAY ELLIOT: CYCLE OF BETRAYAL (Dir. Martin Dwan) about Ireland’s first professional cyclist and the incredible events surrounding his career and life.
